Medical management services

The Commission is committed to ensure you receive timely and appropriate health services for injured and disabled workers that facilitate early and safe return to work, where possible.

As part of this commitment, we facilitate clinics with orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists and a multidisciplinary program referred to as EMPOWER.

These service providers may recommend diagnostic testing such as a MRI to which the Commission also has access. If your doctor determines you require one of these services he/she can ask the Commission to arrange for this service or your case manager may determine this need and refer you directly.

The Commission values and promotes treatment programs that focus on early intervention and controlled, progressive, active exercises and functional activities. The treatment should also emphasize your responsibility in the recovery and return to work process. Programs include acupuncture, chiropractic care, physiotherapy and occupational rehabilitation.

Our Compensation Services Team works with a variety of medical consultants, including physicians, chiropractors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. These professionals work with your case manager in an advisory capacity to ensure you receive the services you need to recover and return to work. These people generally do not meet with you in person and do not replace your treating health care provider(s).
