Student Safety Video/Radio Ad Contest


Congratulations to the winners of the Student Safety Video/Radio Ad Contest and the Viewer's Choice Top Ten Video Contest!

The 2015 Student Safety Video/Radio Ad contest and the Top Ten Viewer's Choice Video contest winners have been announced.

The winning student safety video is “Accidents Suck” – Holy Heart High School – Ethan Bickford, Devin Kelly and Michael Lawlor. The winners will receive $1000 for their video.

The winner of the Student Safety Radio ad is "Safety Night in Canada” – Marystown Central High School" - Marissa Walsh and Cole Inkpen. The radio ad will be aired on radio stations throughout the province as part of the Commission’s advertising campaign. $1000 will also go to the radio ad winners. 

Viewer's Choice Video contest

The winning video for the Viewer's Choice awards is “Workplace Safety with Paul & Barry” – Appalachia  High School - Halen Pittman, Eric White, Jacob MacDonald. The winners will receive $500.

The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission encourages youth to work safe with radio and video ad contests.

We like to think we’re invincible.  But the truth is, young workers are injured in the workplace daily.  On average two young workers between the ages of 15 and 24 are hurt on the job every day in Newfoundland and Labrador.  The one common thing about these injuries is that they are preventable.
