The 2015 Student Safety Video/Radio Ad contest and the Top Ten Viewer's Choice Video contest are now closed. Contest winners will be announced in the near future. Thank-you to all the students for their participation.
There will be a $2000 prize awarded to the winners of the Student Safety contest, $1000 for the video contest winner and $1000 will go to the winning radio ad.
The radio ad will be aired on radio stations throughout the province as part of the Commission’s advertising campaign.
The winner of the Viewer's Choice Video contest will receive $500. The top 10 video finalists in the Viewer’s Choice competition can be viewed on the Commission’s YouTube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/user/safeworknl.
The winners of the video contest for 2014 were Bethany Hynes, Erin Kenny and Sarah Woodford from Villanova Junior High. The students shared a prize of $1,000 for their efforts. View video.
Two radio ads tied for first place. The winning ads were submitted by Zachary O’Neill of Exploits Valley High in Grand Falls-Windsor, who received $1,000, and Ryan Squires, Niall Hingston, Alex Bugden and Ryan McDonald of Gros Morne Academy in Rocky Harbour, who shared $1,000.

The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission encourages youth to work safe with radio and video ad contests.
We like to think we’re invincible. But the truth is, young workers are injured in the workplace daily. On average two young workers between the ages of 15 and 24 are hurt on the job every day in Newfoundland and Labrador. The one common thing about these injuries is that they are preventable.
