Royal St. John’s Regatta taking water safety to new level
The Royal St. John’s Regatta has acquired a new 22-foot pontoon b
oat for
Quidi Vidi Lake, which is now on site. President Wayne Young says the committee has been looking to purchase such a boat for years, and that Islander RV of Grand Falls-Windsor helped make it happen. The boat will be stationed at the turning of the buoys where on-the-water incidents are most likely to happen. It replaces one of the committee’s older lifeboats that have been icons at the Regatta for over 60 years. Young says it will be much easier to get people aboard the new boat. The Regatta takes place August 4th, weather permitting. Good safety practices are critical for all activity on or near water. For more on water safety please visit
